Welcome to Nico Novell Counselling. I am an experienced humanistic counsellor with a broad range of life, communication and linguistic skills, upon which I draw to help my clients address their life challenges.
Originally from Spain, but resident in London for many years, I offer one-to-one counselling for native speakers of English, Spanish and Catalan languages, providing a safe space for full self-expression and a deep understanding of European cultural and social influences.
My main areas of clinical focus are the issues arising out of childhood wounding and the arrested emotional development that can follow. I am skilled at recognising and working with the common hallmarks of disordered family dynamics and sexual abuse, including poor self-esteem, indecisiveness, lack of confidence, self-harming behaviour, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety and depression.
I am very familiar with the 12-Step psychological framework and work extensively with codependence and all forms of addiction, including the so-called 'process' addictions (e.g. sex, sex and love, work) as well as the substance addictions (e.g. alcohol, nicotine, food and drugs).
I hold an Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB), am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow the BACP Ethical Framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy.
I offer short- and long-term therapy, face-to-face or by Skype, as needed.
"Just wanted to say thank you for helping me go through this difficult time. Every time I see you, I always come away with positive feelings and that is very precious to me right now. Thank you for all your good work. You are a blessing."
